NVIDIA surpasses Microsoft and becomes the most valuable company in the world
NVIDIA topped the list of global companies in terms of market value, surpassing Microsoft and Apple.
NVIDIA was able to displace Microsoft from the top of this list after its share price rose by 3.6%, which led to its market value rising to about $3.34 trillion. On the other hand, Microsoft’s market value fell to $3.32 trillion after its share price fell by 0.45% at the close of trading on the American Stock Exchange.
It is worth noting that Microsoft is one of Nvidia’s largest customers, as it relies on its chips to run artificial intelligence services such as “Copilot” in its data centers.
The main reason behind the continued rise in Nvidia’s stock price is the use of its chips in about 80% of the artificial intelligence data centers of companies such as Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, and others.
Earlier this month, Nvidia’s market value exceeded $3 trillion for the first time, and it surpassed Apple to become the second largest company in the American stock market. Apple came in third place behind Microsoft and Nvidia at the end of trading with a market value of $3.29 trillion.
Jensen Huang, co-founder and CEO of NVIDIA, is a major holder of the company’s shares. According to recent Forbes magazine estimates, Huang’s net worth is about $118.4 billion, making him the eleventh richest person in the world, ahead of Dell founder, Michael Dell.
However, other prominent figures in the technical field precede Hwang, such as Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, who ranks ninth, Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Meta, who ranks fifth, and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, who tops the list of the richest people in the world with a net worth of $214.1 billion.
